“Banana Leaves”

Bush banana (Alangkwe) is one of the most popular fruits among the Aboriginal people of the Northern Territory. Bananas can be eaten when they are small or fully grown. The leaves have certain medical values to cure wounds and relieve pains. The young leaves can be eaten as they are, and the older ones will have to be steamed first.

Donna Abbot comes from Alice Springs, NT with a strong artistic background. Her art is very neat and imaginative. Her dreaming is ‘Bush Banana’. Her design ‘Bush Banana’ is one of the most popular fabrics featuring Aboriginal designs.
